1. DANCHEL OUTDOOR Portable Titanium Tent Tiny Stove Wood Burning

DANCHEL OUTDOOR Portable Titanium Wood Burning Tent Tiny Stove.
DANCHEL OUTDOOR Portable Titanium Wood Burning Tent Tiny Stove.

This Danchel stove can definitely be described as ultralight, it weighs only 3.55 lb (1.6 kg), and this includes a pipe that is 98.4 inches (2.5 meters) long. The stove is one of the collapsible models here, and this means it needs a simple assembly.

The collapsible design makes it ultra-packable, the size without the pipe is only 14.2 x 10.5 x 3 inches (36 x 27 x 8 cm). In view of these numbers, you realize this is a very versatile and backpack-portable collapsible stove.

They use titanium that is ultrastrong, so the walls are very thin, only 0.024 inches (0.6 mm) thick. It comes with a glass window on the door where you also have the closable vents.

The pipe is one piece, it rolls down in a small tube for transportation. However, when you need it in the tent, you unroll it to its full 2.5 meters length, and after that roll it in the perpendicular direction to form a long tube. You have several rings that you attach on the tube to keep it in shape. A spark arrestor cap is also included. There are no racks on the sides, pity.

What I like:

  • The weight.
  • Packed size.

What I dislike:

  • The price.
  • No racks.

2. Winnerwell Woodlander Medium Tent Stove

Winnerwell Woodlander Medium Tent Stove.
Winnerwell Woodlander Medium Tent Stove.

This Woodlander Medium Tent stove is a portable 304 stainless steel wood burning stove, and by this I mean the weight of 20 lb (9.1 kg). Its packed size is 15 x 8 x 8 inches (38 x 20 x 20 cm) so you realize that you can transport it even on a motorbike. Such a great packed size is partly due to its beautifully designed folding legs.

You have a firebox of 800 in³ (13.1 liters) of volume, this explains the word ‘medium’ in its name. It is indeed in the medium range of such wood-burning tent stoves.

You have seen its overall dimensions, but note that it has folding racks on both sides. This extends the useful top area almost three times because here you can place your warm pots while you keep preparing remaining meals.

The door is with a nice fire-viewing window and a nicely designed handle. Note that there is an opening on the top, and the pipe diameter is 2.5 inches (6.4 cm).

The package includes 5 pipe sections, a spark arrestor, a grate, an ash scraper, and a pipe damper integrated into one of the pipe sections. This all fits inside of the stove for transportation, and the racks you fold up and use as carrying handles. The stovetop is 1/8 inches (3.2 mm) thick steel and the rest of the body is 1/16 inches (1.6 mm).

What I like:

  • Overall design.
  • Glass window.
  • Quality craftsmanship.

What I dislike:

  • The price.
  • The pipe is a bit narrow.

3. Uncompahgre Collapsible Pack Stove

Uncompahgre Collapsible Pack Stove.
Uncompahgre Collapsible Pack Stove.

The words Pack and Collapsible in the name of this stove are related to each other. So this is yet another stove that collapses into a small package that measures 23 x 11 x 2.25 inches (58 x 28 x 5.7 cm). But the weight is 32 lb (14.5 kg) so I would say that the word Pack is more related to the small packed size than to the fact that you can carry it in the pack, it is too heavy for such use.

In any case, this is a stove from a very known manufacturer, the Colorado Cylinder Stoves, and they also use the name The Unc for this stove. This is steel construction and the stove is strong. But you realize it needs a simple assembly when you want to use it. The firebox size is around 58 liters (3540 in³) so this is a stove with a very good burning capacity.

They used a 20 gauge (0.81 mm) cold-rolled steel and they claim it will burn wood or coal. It is coated with 1200 degree stove paint. When in use, the stove is 19 inches (48 cm) tall.

The pipe is a 26 gauge (0.4 mm) cold-rolled steel. The stovepipe sections start with 4 inches and the end is 5 inches. The firebox size is 23 x 14 x 11 inches (58 x 36 x 28 cm).

What I like:

  • The packed size.
  • Great heating capacity.
  • Durability.

What I dislike:

  • The weight.
  • No racks.
  • No windows.

4. Winnerwell Nomad View Large Tent Stove

Winnerwell Nomad View Large Tent Stove.
Winnerwell Nomad View Large Tent Stove.

Perhaps it is appropriate to explain the name first, so the word View is because of the two glass windows which are visible in the picture. This is a cool feature for a great atmosphere in the tent. They have yet another version of it with one window only (on the door).

The word Large describes the fact that this is the largest in the series of three stoves. The dimensions are (L x W x H) 18.1 x 9.8 x 9.8 inches (46 x 25 x 25 cm), and the pipe diameter is 3.5 inches (8.9 cm). There are 5 pipe segments with a length of 16.9 inches (43 cm) each.

The stove is with two folding side racks, and the legs also fold for transportation. All the other elements fit inside, so it will not take much space in the car. You have a spark arrestor, an ash scraper, a fire grate, and a damper that is integrated into one of the tubes.

The legs are angled outwards so the footprint is 20 x 18 inches (51 x 46 cm). This is all 304 stainless steel so this structure will not corrode. The cooktop thickness is 1/8 inches (3.2 mm) and the rest of the body is 1/16 inches (1.6 mm). The complete set weighs 34.1 lb (15.5 kg). The firebox volume is 1500 cubic inches (24.6 liters).

What I like:

  • Two windows.
  • Side racks.
  • Heating capacity.
  • Materials.

What I dislike:

  • The price.

5. Camp Chef Alpine Heavy Duty Cylinder Stove

Camp Chef Alpine Heavy Duty Cylinder Stove.
Camp Chef Alpine Heavy Duty Cylinder Stove.

This stove is also on the market under the name the Camp Chef Alpine Wood Stove CS14. The total weight is 74 lb (33.6 kg) so now you realize why it is in such a position here in the list, it is heavy. But it is also large, the dimensions are (W x L x H) 20 x 24 x 22.5 inches (51 x 61 x 57 cm).

As you see from the picture, it comes with two useful side racks that measure 22 x 7 inches (56 x 18 cm) each. The pipe is 5 inches (12.7 cm) in diameter, and it is 10 ft (305 cm) long. The top surface is 24 x 14 inches (61 x 36 cm). The walls of the stove are around 1/8 inch (3 mm) thick.

The stove is with adjustable legs and it comes with a chimney damper and a spark arrestor. It is equipped with a door damper and fire grate for efficient burning.

As for the heating capacity, the recommended tent size is a minimum of 10 x 12 ft (305 x 366 cm) and a maximum of 14 x 16 ft (427 x 488 cm) dimensions.

What I like:

  • Durable construction.
  • Large cooking area.
  • Large racks.

What I dislike:

  • The weight.

Final thoughts

So this was my selection of the best rated small wood burning tent stoves, and I hope you realize how different they all are. So you have stoves that are backpack portable, collapsible, non-collapsible, stoves with and without glass windows. If you are undecided on how to choose here are a few tips that might help.

The weight & packed size

Quite generally, these are small and portable stoves, but the difference in weight is huge. This is also related to the packed size and construction. The collapsible stoves pack better, but they need a simple assembly.

Heating capacity

Manufacturers usually do not provide such a parameter. But you may still be able to conclude something from:

  • The firebox size.
  • The pipe diameter.

So go for larger in both cases if you need a stove with better heating capacity.

Editor’s Choice

All these stoves will work great in a tent, but I have decided to put forward the stove shown below because of its great weight and packed size. These parameters make it far more versatile than any other stove in the list. You can indeed carry it in the pack.
