Outwell Polycotton Tents

Outwell Polycotton Tents presented here in the text are of exceptional quality and with excellent features that include air beams, dark rest bedrooms, tinted windows and much more.

The Outwell is an outstanding brand from Denmark, globally known for its large family camping tents. They build them with classic solid poles and also with air beams, the latter are presented in my separate text.

As for the fabric, the majority of their tents are synthetic but they are building polycotton tents as well. So this is a blend of 65% of polyester and 35% of cotton, and they call it the Outtex Airtech (see its features in the picture below). Note that the same Outtex name is used for their synthetic tents but in this case you always have a number added indicating its waterproof rating.

So these polycotton tents are built from a pleasant breathable material which is still waterproof because of the cotton threads swelling when they get wet. This effect is well-known and it is used in all the cotton and polycotton tents currently on the market.

My list of the best Outwell polycotton tents

The tents in the list below are ordered by the floor area, from smaller to larger.

The list below is short but note that some of these tents are just representatives of series that include several tents.

1. Outwel Hayward Lake 4ATC Air Tent

This Hayward Lake 4ATC is the smallest in the series that also includes Hayward Lake 5ATC and Hayward Lake 6ATC. They share the same features just the dimensions are different. But this is still a large tent with dimensions of 201 x 122 inches (510 x 310 cm).

The inner floored area is 12 square meters plus a partially protected porch which you see in the picture. The tent is very tall with its 86.6 inches (220 cm) peak height. It is supported with inflatable beams.

You have 2 bedrooms plus a large living room, so the tent is a 3-room structure, and its official capacity is 4 people. But it can easily accommodate at least two people more in its fully protected living room.

There are 3 large doors, two on the sides and one double-wide under the porch. All of them are with mesh for ventilation. You also have solid tinted windows. Note that the inner tent with its two doors has a magnetic closure.

The shell is their Outtex Airtech, a mix of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. The inner tent’s floor is a PU coated taffeta polyester, and the fully sealed shell floor is a double-coated waterproof polyethylene.

2. Outwell Mountain Lake 5ATC Air Tent

This tent is specific here in the sense that its base is a sort of T-shaped. You have an inner tent with three bedrooms, plus a huge living area, and finally a fully protected front porch which is with a removable floor. So the tent can be described as a 5-room structure.

The dimensions are impressive 287.4 x 193 inches (7.3 x 4.9 m). The area with a sewn-in floor is around 19.8 square meters. The front room with its removable floor is around 8 square meters.

You have great features here. The tent is supported with gothic style air tubes that provide great headroom and interior space. The inner doors are with magnetic closure. You have durable storm webbings, and ventilation is the best you can have, with several floor vents, a rear vent system, plus mesh on the doors.

You also have the shell and inner cable entry points, adjustable pegging points for pitching flexibility. Also included is the HookTrack System for versatile positioning of lights, numerous mesh pockets to store small items, and large tinted windows with zip-up curtains for privacy.

The groundsheet is a double-coated waterproof polyethylene. The packed size is 31.5 x 23.6 x 23.6 inches (80 x 60 x 60 cm), and the weight is 106.5 lb (48.3 kg). Please see more in this video:

3. Outwell Wood Lake 7ATC Air Tent

This is a very large tent with the dimensions 311 x 185 inches (790 x 470 cm). The official capacity here is 7 people, and this is the number of places in the bedrooms. But if necessary, this tent can easily accommodate 7 people more in its large living room. The total floored area is around 269 ft² (25 m²), plus the porch.

Inside you have an inner tent that contains 3 dark rest bedrooms with removable dividers, and a huge living room. In addition to this, there is a large fully protected porch, so the tent can be described as a 5-room construction.

The shell fabric is the mentioned Outtex Airtech polycotton. The inner tent’s floor is a PU coated taffeta polyester, and there is yet another main floor which is a fully waterproof polyethylene. The tent is supported with 7 air beams with 9 psi (0.6 bar) maximum. This is why it is also in my list of Outwell airbeam tents.

Here too you have magnetic closure on the inner doors. This allows for quick and quiet bedroom entry. But you still have the option of zips for a more secure closure when required.

Here are a few more numbers which you might want to see. The weight is 125 lb (56.8 kg), the packed size is 41.3 x 25.6 x 25.6 inches (105 x 65 x 65 cm), and the peak height is 86.6 inches (220 cm). Please see more in this video:
