If you are in search of products for outdoor sleeping, you cannot miss Coleman camp cots, they are among the most popular on the market and for all the good reasons.
Coleman is one of the best known outdoor brands and they make practically everything you need for outdoor activities. You can realize this also if you search here in the site, you will see many of Coleman products presented.
This is not surprising in view of the fact that this brand has been around for 122 years already. Note that they have separate branches for America, Europe, and Australia.
Here I present some of Coleman best known camping cots. I did my best to include a variety of designs, so you have classic military cots, folding cots, cots with foam matrasses, and cots with inflatable pads.
My list of best Coleman camping cots
So here is my list, the cots are ordered by the weight from lighter to heavier:
The list includes collapsible cots that need a simple assembly, and folding cots that are ready in seconds. The latter have two different types, those that close like an umbrella and become elongated tubes, and those that fold like a book.
I hope you will love the products I present below, I choose only the best that is on the market, those that I can fully recommend, and present them here in the site. Just a heads up that as an associate of Amazon and other sellers, I may earn some commission from qualifying purchases of products bought via links on this page, at no additional cost for you.
1. Coleman Living Collection Cot

This Coleman Living Collection Cot is from their Living Collection presented in my separate text. So this is a cot with six completely vertical legs that are reinforced with support bars. The frame is aluminum and there are a few steel reinforcement elements. This is reflected in its weight which is only 12.9 lb (5.85 kg).
The cot is folding type, and it folds in half its length, but it also collapses widthwise. So its folded size is very good, it measures 38 x 7.75 x 5.75 inches (97 x 20 x 15 cm). It comes with a storage pouch visible in the picture, and there is also a carry bag included.
The dimensions of this cot when unfolded are (L x W x H) 74.8 x 24 x 15 inches (190 x 61 x 38 cm). So the bed size is 1.16 square meters. The length is moderate but note that there are no bars at the two ends, so the length is a true useful length.
What I like:
- Compact when folded.
- Lightweight.
- Carry bag included.
What I dislike:
- Not really large.
2. Coleman ComfortSmart Folding Cot

In fact there are two cots here, the one is with the name in the title and the other is the Coleman ComfortSmart Deluxe Cot. The difference is only in the bed size.
So the smaller version measures (L x W x H) 69 x 25 x 15 inches (175 x 63 x 38 cm), and the Deluxe Cot measures 80 x 30 x 15 inches (203 x 76 x 38 cm). This means you have 1.1 and 1.5 square meters in the two versions.
The main thing here is the included foam mattress which is 1.75 inches (4.5 cm) thick. It folds together with the cot, so this is a sleeping set of two elements. The frame is a heavy-duty steel. The weight capacity is 275 lb (125 kg) and 300 lbs (136 kg), for the two versions, respectively. The weight is 14 lb (6.35 kg) and 19.3 lbs (8.7 kg).
You can see a bit more in this video:
What I like:
- Ease of use.
- The mattress.
- The price.
What I dislike:
- The smaller cot is too small.
3. Coleman Trailhead II Military Camping Cot

As of the moment of writing this text, this cot is the number one among bestsellers on Amazon. This is because of its price and value combination which is exceptional. The cot is a simple military style structure that needs an easy assembly.
The length is quite standard but it is wide, the dimensions are 75 x 35 inches (190 x 89 cm), so you have 1.7 square meters of the area. Its packed size is quite good, it measures only (L x D) 36 x 7 inches (91 x 18 cm).
The cot weighs 17.7 lb (8 kg) and it supports up to 300 lb (136 kg) of weight. It comes with a carry bag included.
What I like:
- Compact.
- Wide.
- Great price.
- Carry bag.
What I dislike:
- A bit heavy.
4. Coleman Big-N-Tall Cot

This Coleman Big-N-Tall Cot is a very typical military-style cot. This means it has a frame and X-shaped legs. This also implies that it needs a simple assembly. There are only two end bars that have to be added, all the other elements are pre-attached to each other and you fold them together when you want to pack the cot.
So this is a collapsible cot and it packs down to 43.3 x 11 x 5.5 inches (110 x 28 x 13 cm), and clearly you need a car for transportation. Note that it comes with a wheeled carry bag, you will need it in view of its weight.
The weight of this cot is substantial 35.2 lb (16 kg), but there are some good reasons for this. The bed is large, its dimensions are 84 x 35 inches (213 x 89 cm) and this means 1.9 square meters. But see also its impressive capacity which is 600 lb (272 kg). All metal parts are steel.
Note also that it is quite tall, so this allows for lots of space underneath the cot to store your gear. The legs are with nicely designed feet, but you will want to add some extra protection if you use it in a floored tent and on soft ground.
What I like:
- Size.
- Capacity.
- Great feet design.
What I dislike:
- The weight.
- The packed length.
5. Coleman Queen Size Cot with Air Mattress

This Coleman Queen Size Cot is a complete outdoor sleeping system with several elements. The main part is its double-size camping cot that measures 78 x 59 x 22 inches (198 x 150 x 56 cm). As you realize, it is incredibly wide and also very tall. The overall area is 3 square meters.
You also have an air mattress with an included zippered cover. But there is more, you also get 2 side tables with cup holders, plus a pump is included.
The official weight capacity is 600 lb (272 kg), so this should be fine for two adults. This all is quite heavy, the system weighs 42.8 lb (19.4 kg). But they have built a carry bag with wheels. The packed size is also substantial (L x D) 48 x 18 inches (122 x 46 cm). The frame is steel, with 9 legs and with many support bars.
See how it looks in a tent:
What I like:
- Great size.
- Thick air pad.
- Great price.
- Side tables.
What I dislike:
- The cover is sewn-in.
- Heavy.
