Coleman has many tents on the market in every category and shape, and here you have my selection of the best Coleman 8 person cabin tents, each of them very different from the rest.

Cabin tent are normally tall and with steep and straight walls, so this is what you have here, very pleasant and livable tents for up to 3-season camping.

Coleman and other US-based brands usually determine the capacity of their tents by the number of sleeping pads that can be placed on the floor. So you can always be sure that this capacity is correct from this point of view.

However, these are car camping tents so if you want comfort and to have space for gear, it is best to downgrade the official capacity by half or so.

On the other hand, with such tall tents with steep walls, you can use bunk cots and this will give you more floor space. You can also store your camping gear underneath them. See some examples of such stackable cots in this text.

1. Coleman Tenaya Lake Fast Pitch 8 Person Tent

This Coleman Tenaya Lake Fast Pitch 8 Person Tent has been around for many years, so all is known about it. This is a pleasant and tall cabin style tent with a 80 inches (203 cm) peak height, and with 5 windows.

The tent is a 2-room type with two doors and one of them is a hinged door. But this is not the only specific feature here, there is also a storage closet on the back of the tent with 4 ft² (0.37 m²) of the floor area and its own support poles.

The tent is with their fast pitch hubbed poles system so you have the roof poles that are all pre-attached to the hub element on the roof.

Here are some numbers you might need. The weight is 35.4 lb (16 kg) and the dimensions are 13 x 9 ft (396 x 274 cm). The total floored area is 117 + 4 ft² (10.85 + 0.37 m²). The tent’s packed size is 34.5 x 13 x 11.5 inches (88 x 33 x 29 cm).

2. Coleman Octagon 98 Full Fly Tent

There are no many true cabin type tents with a full coverage fly, so what you see here is rare. Note also that the tent has been on the market for many years already.

This is true freestanding and nicely built 3-season tent supported with a strong steel frame. The fly has vertical zippers on the sides so you can open it and have views around.

The part that you do not see is the inner tent where the big part of the canopy is a polyester mesh 68D combined with a polyester taffeta 68D. The floor is a very thick polyethylene 1000D and it is bathtub type and fully sealed so you are fully protected from the ground.

There are 2 doors here and one of them is a hinged door which is yet another rare feature in this tent. Note that they have added short brim poles that protect the doors so you have a dry entry design.

The tent weighs 49.3 lb (22.4 kg) and its diameter is 13 ft (4 m), so the floor area is 122 ft² (11.3 m²). Note also that the tent is very tall and pleasant with its peak height of 82 inches (208 cm). The packed size is 34 x 13 x 12.25 in (86 x 33 x 31 cm).

3. Coleman 8 Person Instant Camping Tent

This tent is one of the most popular tents from this brand ever. They have a series of them, you can see the 6-person version in my separate text about Coleman 6 person cabin tents.

As you realize from the name, this is an instant setup tent with telescopic legs poles, and the frame is pre-attached to the tent. So it is incredibly easy to use and very practical. If you change the camping place frequently this is the tent to consider. It is included in my list of best 8 person instant camping tents.

From the picture you also realize that this is a cabin-type shelter with its straight and steep walls. Note also that it is very tall with its 77 inches (1.96 m) peak height. Yet another feature that adds to its ease of use is its single-layer design, so you have a built-in rain fly.

However, the tent has huge double-layer windows on all its sides, you have them 7 in total, plus 2 doors. There is also a divider so the tent is officially with 2 rooms.

The tent is fully freestanding so you can rotate it and move short distances after you raise it from the ground. The area is 140 ft² (12.9 m²) and the weight is 36.3 lb (16.5 kg), so it is not light but such a weight is typical for large instant tents.

The frame is steel with 6 leg poles that are 16 mm diameter, and the roof poles are 12 mm diameter. The tent is also one of bestsellers on Amazon.

So this was my selection of the best Coleman 8 person cabin tents, all very tall and pleasant shelters with steep and straight walls. But each of them has its own set of great features, so make sure that you have your list of preferences when you choose one.

These tents can hardly be compared because they are so different, but I have decided to put forward as my choice the tent shown below.

If ease of use is the most important feature for you, then this tent cannot possibly be your choice. In fact, it needs some work when you set it up, but one person can do this with ease.

It is my choice because of several features that all work nicely together, like its full fly that allows for views around when you unzip it on the sides, or its hinged door, etc.
