1. Gas ONE Propane or Butane Stove GS-3400P

Gas ONE Propane or Butane Stove GS-3400P.

This is a single-burner stove with a Piezo electric ignition and an automatic safety shut-off system. The output is 8000 BTU. It is surprisingly light, it weighs only 3.1 lb (1.4 kg) and its overall dimensions (L x W x H) are 13.5 x 11.2 x 4.4 inches (34 x 28 x 11 cm). So it is compact as well.

One truly great and specific feature here is that this stove can work with both propane and butane. You can use a 8 oz Butane Canister and a 16.4 oz Propane Tank. You have a regulator suited for both propane and butane. Note that it comes with a great solid carry case included.

Other details include air vents, non-slip rubber legs, a heat-resistant knob, and a built-in cartridge ejection system which activates if irregular gas flow/pressure above 5-7 kg/cm² is detected. It is included also in my list of best single burner propane camp stoves.

What I like:

  • Compact size.
  • Incredible weight.
  • Its dual fuel system.
  • The solid carry case.
  • The price.

What I dislike:

Jetboil Genesis Basecamp Camping Cooking System.

This is an award-winning 2-burner system. The total power is 10000 BTU and its packed size is impressive (H x D) 10.75 x 8.5 inches (27 x 22 cm). Its two parts simply folds into one.

But you have seen the word System in the name. This is because of the following included elements:

  1. There is a 2-burner stove with stainless steel burners 3.25 inches (8.2 cm) in diameter.
  2. You also have a 5-liter FluxPot aluminum pot shown on the right, with two handles on the sides and a lid. Note that the lid has a strainer on the side. The pot is specially designed with what they call the flux ring on the bottom, this is added for increased burning efficiency ad to save fuel.
  3. Also included is a 10-inch FryPan.
  4. You also get a flexible translucent plastic windscreen.
  5. There is a nice carry case.

The stoves comes with a simmer control and a lever igniter. The weight is 9.1 lb (4.1 kg). I have included it also in my list of best rated camping stoves with 2 and 3 burners.

Campy Gear Hunky 2 in 1 Portable Propane Heater & Stove.

I mentioned specific and unique features, so here you have a great example. This product includes a cooker on the top and a 360 degree radiation heater. The output is 18000 BTU.

This is a versatile stove, and note also that they claim it is suitable both for indoor and outdoor use. You have a low oxygen sensor and a tip over auto shut off system that activates if it is tilted more than 45 degrees. So the most important safety features are in place.

The weight is 13.45 lb (6.1 kg) and the dimensions are (H x D) 21.5 x 15.7/10.2 inches (55 x 40/26 cm).

What I like:

  • Indoor and outdoor use.
  • Great output.
  • 2-in-1 System.

What I dislike:

  • A bit bulky and heavy.

4. Camp Chef Everest 2 Burner Stove

Camp Chef Everest 2 Burner Stove.
Camp Chef Everest 2 Burner Stove.

This stove cannot be described as unique by its design, this is a classic 2-burner stove that folds into itself and it includes windshields on three sides, you can see them in the picture. It is included also in my list of best rated camping stoves with 2 and 3 burners.

But the total output is 40000 BTU and this incredible power is what sets it apart. It simmers well, you also have and automatic ignition and a very good heat distribution.

This is a strong stove but still portable and compact. When closed, the box measures 23.5 x 13.5 x 4 inches (60 x 34 x 10 cm), and its weight is 12 pounds (5.4 kg). As you realize, it is long and moderately wide so you can use 2 pans or pots up to 12 inches (30 cm) in diameter each.

What I like:

  • Great power.
  • Auto-ignition.
  • Windshields.
  • Stable cooking.

What I dislike:

  • Complaints about regulators.

5. Camp Chef Ranger III Table Top Stove

Camp Chef Ranger III Table Top Stove.
Camp Chef Ranger III Table Top Stove.

This stove comes with 3 burners and its total output is impressive 51000 BTU, which means 17000 per burner. You have a matchless ignition here. There are no windscreens but there is what they call the Wind Baffle Technology so the flame is partly protected by the body and the grate.

The black metal in the picture is a rugged cast-iron. The burners are also strong, this is a cast-aluminum. This all implies that the weight is substantial so the stove weighs 25 lb (11.3 kg).

The cooking area is large so you can use three smaller pots or two really large ones. The stove dimensions are 29 x 15.5 x 6 inches (74 x 39 x 15 cm) and the cooking area is 449.5 in² (0.29 m²).

What I like:

  • The output/power.
  • Robust design.
  • Craftsmanship.

What I dislike:

  • The weight.
  • No windscreen.

Final thoughts

So this was my selection of best propane camp stoves, and you realize how very different they all are. This is why I do not chose one as an Editor’s Choice product. But here are some tips that may help.

  • If you need a stove in a cold environment where you would heat the tent, then go for the Campy Gear Hunky. You can use it also for cooking, it is perfect for one or two people.
  • If you have a few people in the group, then you might want to go for some of the stoves with multiple burners. You have several excellent options.
  • On the other hand, if you are limited with space in the car, or want a stove that can be carried some shorter distances in the pack, go for those two that are on the top of the list. Both are compact, but the first is also ultralight.
