Here you have my selection of best double camping sleeping bags for adults, versatile and unique outdoor products from the top brands in this industry. Keep reading.
The double-wide bags presented here are either rectangular or mummy-style, the former will provide much more comfort but they are less thermally efficient. You will see that some come with a hood and some are without it. Having a hood is essential if you plan to camp in a cold environment.

The list is created with a focus on the versatility and uniqueness of designs. On the other hand, you will see some with different temperature ratings for the upper and lower halves of the bag.
I hope you will love the products I present below, I choose only the best that is on the market, those that I can fully recommend, and present them here in the site. 1. Big Agnes King Solomon 15 Degree Sleeping Bag

This double sleeping bag can be described as ultralight in view of its weight which is 4 lb 9 oz (2070 g) and its official temperature rating 15 F (-9.4 C). With such a rating it is in the class of true 3-season sleeping bags and perhaps even more than that.
The great weight is because of its top-notch water-repellent anti-microbial and anti-bacterial 600 fill Downtek down insulation. But such a weight is also because of the fact that there is no insulation on the bottom. Instead of the bottom insulation of the bag, you have two pad sleeves. As you know the insulation of a bag loses its insulating features when pressed by the body, and this is why they have removed it completely. You can place two pads of the size 72 x 20 inches (183 x 51 cm), so you realize the size is not so impressive.
The picture above shows that you have a double-wide hood, and there are also two integrated pillow sleeves. The compressed size is truly impressive (L x D) 11 x 11 inches (28 x 28 cm).
What I like:
- Weight.
- Packed size.
- Comfort.
What I dislike:
- Price.
- Overall size.

2. Browning Camping Side-by-Side 0 Degree Double Sleeping Bag

This sleeping bag could be described as 5-in-1. This means the following. You can use it as a large double sleeping bag. You can also unzip its two sides and use them separately as two solo sleeping bags. You can unzip them and use them as two blankets.
In the picture above you can see how it looks when the two halves are separated and used as solo bags. I hope you realize how versatile this all is, you can use it with your partner, but you or your family members can use it as solo bags. The shape is simple, this is a rectangular structure without a hood.
The size of the double bag, and also the size of the two solo blankets, is 80 x 68 inches (203 xx 173 cm). In the case when you use solo bags, the size is 80 x 34 inches (203 x 86 cm) for each of them, so this is a large space in any case.
You have already seen its temperature rating in the name, so this is 0 degree F (-18 C). You have 4 kg of TechLoft Silver synthetic insulation that consists of multiple denier staple-length fibers with a siliconized finish for maximum insulation, loft, and compactness. The shell is a 210T polyester ripstop with a two-layer offset construction, as you know this is to avoid cold spots. The liner is a pleasant brushed polyester. The zippers are #8, and a compression stuff sack is included. The total weight is 12 lb 14 oz (5.84 kg) and the packed size is (L x D) 29 x 14 inches (74 x 36 cm).
What I like:
- Versatility.
- Protection.
- Price.
What I dislike:
- Weight.
- Packed size.
3. Coleman Tandem 3-in-1 45 Big and Tall Double Adult Sleeping Bag

Coleman uses the word Tandem in the name and also the phrase 3-in-1. So this should be understood as follows. You have a large double size sleeping bag when needed, its dimensions are 81 x 66 inches (206 x 168 cm). But the two halves can be unzipped and you can use them as two separate solo sleeping bags of the same length but half the width. Clearly, you can use the two halves as blankets as well, so it would be appropriate to describe it as 5-in-1.
The insulation is synthetic, and these are what they call the Coletherm hollow polyester fibers with the official temperature rating of 45 F (7 C). If you add a few degrees just to be sure, this would make it a sleeping bag for the warmer part of the year, say 2 seasons or a bit more.
You have a 2-way patented ZipPlow system here that keeps the zipper separated from the fabric to prevent snags. The picture above shows what they call the ComfortCuff warm and cozy fabric that is in contact with your face. There is also a built-in detachable sheet for layering.
Other features include what they call the Roll Control design, patented Quick Cord no-tie closure, and stuff sack. This all makes the bag easy to roll. Note that this sleeping bag is machine washable, but bear in mind its packed size (L x D) 17.7 x 13.4 inches (45 x 34 cm). It weighs 9.5 pounds (4.3 kg). This bag is also in my list of best rated Coleman sleeping bags for adults.
What I like:
- Price.
- Versatility.
- Detachable sheet.
What I dislike:
- Packed size.
- Weight.
- Only for warmer weather.
4. Exped Megasleep 25/40 F Reversible Sleeping Bag

It is appropriate to explain first the word Reversible in the name of this sleeping bag. The meaning is that one side of it is with the rating of 40 degrees F (4 C) rating and this side should be your upper side. This would make it a 2-season or summer sleeping bag. But you can also have the other side up, and this side is with a 25-degree F (-4 C) rating. This would make it a true 3-season sleeping bag.
When both sides are zipped together, this is a large sleeping bag for two adults. Its dimensions are 82.7 x 63 inches (210 x 160 cm). But you can unzip them and use them separately, so you will have two single sleeping bags with different temperature ratings. Note that you can unzip the two halves completely and use them as two blankets. So you have an incredibly versatile outdoor sleeping product here.
Here are some numbers. The total weight is 64.2 oz (1820 g), the stuff sack dimensions are 27.6 x 22.8 x 11.8 inches (70 x 58 x 30 cm), and the bag can be compressed to a packed size of (L x D) 11.8 x 7.1 inches (30 x 18 cm). The insulation is synthetic, 100% polyester Texpedloft microfiber, so the bag is very suitable for damp and wet conditions. The shell is a 40D ripstop nylon, Oeko-Tex 100 certified.
What I like:
- Versatility.
- Weight.
- Price.
What I dislike:
- No hood.
5. Kelty Tru.Comfort Doublewide 20 Regular Sleeping Bag

The picture above shows what this sleeping bag is about. The upper side has two layers and you can combine them or use them separately as it suits you best and depending on the temperature. The shell layer can be removed completely, and you can use it as a separate blanket in the camp. Note also that the bag has an oversized hood so this adds to its thermal efficiency.
The official temperature rating is 20° F (-7° C) and this makes it a true 3-season sleeping bag. It is designed for people up to 6 ft 6 in (198 cm) height. The materials are durable, so you have a shell that is 75D 210T high filament poly taffeta and the liner is similar 75D 210T poly taffeta. The weight is a substantial 9 lb 8 oz (4.314 kg) so this is not a bag to carry anywhere. Note also that the stuffed size is (L x D) 28 x 15.5 inches (71 x 39 cm).
What I like:
- Versatility.
- Temperature rating.
- Unique design.
- Comfort.
What I dislike:
- Weight.
- Packed size.

6. Nemo Jazz Duo 20-Degree Sleeping Bag

I guess the picture above is descriptive enough that you know what this Nemo Jazz Duo Sleeping Bag is about. They build it in regular and luxury size and also as a solo bag in two different sizes. The regular double-wide bag is 78 x 58 inches (198 x 147 cm), and the luxury bag is 80 x 67 inches (203 x 170 cm).
To continue with numbers, the weight of the regular size is 7 lb 9 oz (3.42 kg) and the official temperature rating is 20 F (-7 C). So this makes it a true 3-season sleeping bag. The insulation is synthetic, more precisely polyester staple fibers, they call it the Synthetic Stratofiber for a moisture-resistant warmth in all conditions, and this is reflected in its packed size which is 31 x 14 x 14 inches (79 x 36 x 36 cm) so you see it is bulky and most suitable for car camping.
Now a bit more about its features. One of the details that set this bag apart is its integrated sheet, it is removable, there are snap buttons, and you can wash it. From the picture, you realize that the bag has an oversized hood. Yet another feature is integrated pad sleeves. This is to keep the pad in place. Note that you can leave the pad in place when you pack the bag, just deflate the pad and pack both together, they call it the Grab-and-Go design.
What I like:
- Temperature rating.
- Design.
- Comfort.
What I dislike:
- Price.
- Packed size.
7. Sierra Designs Frontcountry Bed 20 Duo

They build this Sierra Designs Frontcountry Bed 20 Duo as a regular and queen size, and there are also solo versions in two sizes. So this is a huge zipperless 3-season sleeping bag with synthetic insulation.
As you see from the picture above, there is a comforter with arm sleeves, and it acts as a blanket. The bag is with a hood and there is also an integrated foot vent, a patented self-sealing construction for fast and easy ventilation, plus a sleeping pad sleeve. All in all, this is a unique design and this brand has been developing it for a number of years already.
The temperature rating is 20 F (-7 C) and you will want to know that it is ISO rated. The outer shell is a 30D polyester ripstop while the liner is a 68D polyester taffeta.
The width is around 59 inches (150 cm) for the queen size bag, and the length is the same for both versions 84 inches (213 cm). The weight is 8 lb 5.5 oz (3.8 kg). The packed size is (L x D) 23 x 14 inches (58 x 36 cm). So it is a bit heavy to carry but you can transport it even on a bicycle.
What I like:
- Unique design.
- No zippers.
- Temperature rating.
- Packed size.
What I dislike:
- Weight.
8. TETON Sports Fahrenheit Mammoth Double Sleeping Bag

They have built this double-wide sleeping bag with two temperature ratings, so you can choose between +20°F (-7°C) or 0°F (-18°C) options. As you realize, one could be described as a 3-season bag and the other is a true winter sleeping bag. Both are with the same dimensions but there are differences in weight, one weighs 15 lb (6.8 kg) and the other 16.5 lb (7.5 kg).
The dimensions are 94 x 62 inches (239 x 157 cm), so this is huge but note that this includes the hood shown in the picture above. The packed size of the Mammoth 0 Degree Double Bag is 28 x 15.75 x 15.75 inches (71 x 40 x 40 cm). Clearly, such an item you cannot carry anywhere so this is a car camping sleeping bag.
The shell is a polyester taffeta and the liner is a very pleasant 100% cotton flannel. The insulation is synthetic and they call it the SuperLoft Elite Hollow Fiber. There is a carry bag included.
What I like:
- Overall comfort.
- Flannel liner.
- Size.
- Price.
What I dislike:
- Weight.
- Packed size.

9. TETON Sports Tracker +5F Double-Wide Sleeping Bag

This is a mummy-style double-size bag and the dimensions are 87 x 63 inches (221 x 160) at the shoulders, and 44 inches (112 cm) at the feet. The weight is substantial but still moderate for its temperature rating, it weighs 8.2 lb (3.7 kg).
The official temperature rating is 5 F (-15 C) so this is a bag warm enough for winter use. They use what they call the PolarLite synthetic insulation, and an extra layer of fill is added in both foot-boxes for extra warmth for toes even in extreme weather.
As you see you have two hoods that add to its thermal efficiency, there is a center anchor loop and toggle. The fabric is a very durable 75D diamond ripstop nylon and the liner is a double-brushed P5 Poly Hi-Count. There are 2 interior zip pockets for the two occupants. The packed size is very good 18 x 10 x 10 inches (46 x 25 x 25 cm).

How to choose
So this was my selection of the best double camping sleeping bags for adults, and you realize that these are really versatile and unique products. There are many factors to take into consideration and they include:
- Versatility.
- Packed size.
- Weight.
- Insulation type.
- Temperature rating.
- The durability of the fabric.
- Comfort.
- Liner type.
- Price.
Each of these is worth discussing and they are interrelated. You have already seen a lot about versatility, some of these bags are 3-in-1, 5-in-1, etc. The packed size, weight, and insulation are related to each other. If you want something packable and light, then you should go for a down insulation.
Temperature rating is also related to the weight and packed size, usually the more insulation the better rating. You have seen that some bags offer versatility even in this respect.
Some of the bags are light because of their relatively thin materials, this is expressed through their denier value. But you have seen that some are built from ripstop materials and these can be thin yet very strong.
There are many factors that contribute to comfort. These include the size and shape, you have it less in mummy-style bags. Pleasant cotton flannel liner plays an important part here. But think also about the temperature rating and the conditions where you plan to camp, if you feel cold nothing will make you comfortable.
There are big differences in prices, this is also related to the shell materials and insulation. Down bags are always more expensive, but you would rather avoid down in wet conditions.
