If you are in search of a cot with extra comfort and versatility, you will want to check this list of adjustable folding camping cots for sleeping with an adjustable backrest or legs.

So the term adjustable camp cots is used to describe more or less the following two main features:

• Adjustable backrest.
• Adjustable legs.

You will realize that these two features usually come together, but not always. The backrest is sometimes adjusted independently with the help of some support locking bars, but there are cots where it is supported by extended legs in the head area. Note also that there are cots with independently adjustable legs so that you can make it stable on any terrain.

This is an incredibly affordable recliner cot. So if you are on a budget this is cot to consider. It has been on the market for many years, and you have a globally known outdoor brand behind it.

The cot is easy to use, there is no assembly. You have 4 different positions for the backrest, and it offers also 2 different positions for the footrest. There are locking elements under the head section, you raise the backrest and secure it in the desired position. As for the footrest, you can use it flat as in the picture or you can fold the front U-shaped leg and the footrest will be at an angle.

You will see in the list below that some manufacturers describe such products as lounge chairs, the truth is this is both a cot and a lounge chair. It can also be completely flat as expected from a standard cot.

The fabric is polyester and the frame is a powder-coated and rust-resistant steel. This is one of those cots that fold and become very thin, the packed size is 27.8 x 25.2 x 4.9 inches (71 x 64 x 12 cm).

A few more numbers, the weight is 14.6 lb (6.72 kg), the capacity is 225 lb (102 kg), and the dimensions are 76.3 x 25.2 inches (194 x 64 cm). You have 12.8 inches (32 cm) clearance from the ground.

2. AMENITIES DEPOT Memory Foam 6-Leg Foldable Camping Cot

This AMENITIES DEPOT Memory Foam 6-Leg Foldable Camping Cot is an example where you have telescopic legs. This is helpful in the camp where the ground is rarely perfectly leveled. The legs can be extended in the range of 13 – 15.7 inches (23 – 40 cm). But note that this is not a recliner.

The cot is both extra long and extra wide. This means that the bed is 85.6 x 39 inches (217 x 99 cm). This is why I have included it also in my list of extra long camp cots for tall people. But this is not all, this is also a fully padded cot, so you do not need a separate sleeping pad.

As the name suggests, the design is folding, there is no assembly, you simply unfold it in seconds. Note that the dimensions when packed are not its best features, though its becomes rather thin. So the folded size is 39.4 x 31.5 x 11 inches (100 x 80 x 28 cm).

With such dimensions and padding, this is a very comfortable bed that you can use also at home for sudden guests. As for the capacity, it is quite moderate, officially this cot supports the weight of up to 260 lb (118 kg).

The cot weighs 22.7 lb (10.3 kg). The frame is steel and the padding inside is a memory foam and this is covered with a pleasant fleece cover. This cot is added also in my list of best padded camping cots.

3. KingCamp Portable Folding Camping Cot Adjustable 4-Position

This KingCamp Portable Folding Camping Cot Adjustable 4-Position can be used either as a cot or as a patio reclining lounger chair. The picture is descriptive enough, so you realize that you have a reclining backrest for 4 different reclining positions. The legs are U-shaped, and the front leg you can fold as in the picture and this gives a footrest typical for a lounger chair.

The frame is anodized steel so you have good protection against corrosion. The fabric is a 600D oxford polyester. You have a storage set on the side, and the cot also comes with a removable pillow. There are a few different colors to choose from.

• Capacity: 264 lb (120 kg).
• Dimensions: 74.8 x 23.2 in (190 x 59 cm).
• Height: 14.6 in (37 cm).

4. TIMBER RIDGE Folding Sun Lounger

This TIMBER RIDGE Folding Sun Lounger is with an adjustable backrest, and you have 6 different backrest positions. Yet another great detail here is visible in the picture, and this is its adjustable sunshade. Note that the legs are U-shaped, equipped with locking bars, but they are not adjustable.

With such a backrest, it is not surprising that the manufacturer describes it as an outdoor lounger. But its dimensions are very typical for a standard camping cot. It measures (L x W x H) 76 x 26.4 x 12.2 inches (193 x 67 x 31 cm). So you have a 2-in-1 design here.

You also have a pillow included. The frame is aluminum, but the weight is still substantial, it weighs 20 lb (9.07 kg). The capacity is also typical for a camping cot, 300 lb (136 kg), and the packed size is 31.5 x 27.6 x 7.9 inches (80 x 70 x 20 cm).

5. REDCAMP Tanning Lounge Chair for Outside

This is one of the cots here where you have a reclining backrest and the lags are in principle fixed. As you realize, the manufacturer calls it a lounge chair, and it can indeed be used for such a purpose. But its overall dimensions are 75 x 25.5 inches (191 x 65 cm), so this is a real camping cot as well.

It is very easy to use, the U-shaped legs fold easily and in such a state it becomes very thin, the packed size is 29 x 27.5 x 7 inches (74 x 70 x 18 cm). You also get a removable pillow, and this all at a very reasonable price.

The frame is aluminum with strong oval tubing. The fabric is with an exceptional denier value of 1680D, this is a Textilene Oxford, a sort of polyester. The weight capacity is very good, it is officially for users of up to 330 lb (150 kg). The weight is 12.5 lb (5.7 kg). Note that the height is 11.5 inches (29 cm).

6. Bushtec Adventure Camping Cot Sierra 440

This cot is full of great features, but it is here because of its adjustability. So you have extendable legs, they can be extended up to 22 inches (56 cm) at the head side, and up to 16 inches (41 cm) at the foot side. But it is also reclining, you can use it as a lounger and keep the backrest at several angles.

Its official capacity is 440 lb (200 kg). This explains the number 440 in the name. So it is added also in my list of extra heavy duty camping cots for heavy people.

The bed size is 82 x 34 inches (208 x 86 cm), so if you are a tall person this is the cot to consider. The weight is 29 lb (13.2 kg) and the packed size is 33 x 32 x 10 inches (84 x 81 x 25 cm).

You realize, it is heavy and this is also one of the cots that remain large in two dimensions when packed, so this is a car camping cot. But note that this is a purely folding cot, there is no assembly of any kind, you simply open it.

What sets it apart from the crowd is also its padding, so you do not need an extra sleeping pad with such a cot.

I would point out also its feet design, they are very wide, pivoting, and floor-friendly, so you can use it in floored tents without problems. The frame is steel, and the fabric is a ripstop, waterproof, fire retardant, and UV-protected canvas, with padding inside. The attachment to the frame is through bungee cords, so the bed adjusts easily to your body shape.

Final thoughts

So this was my list of best adjustable folding camping cots for sleeping, and I hope you were able to find something suitable for you. As you realize, there are big differences here, some cots are with padding and some not. Some have several types of adjustabilities for maximum comfort.

There are substantial differences in weight as well, but in my view, this is not so essential because all of them are for places with a car access. I have decided to put forward as my choice the cot shown below. It is impressive in many ways.
